HTTP Status 500 error:  javax.servlet.ServletException: org/apache/jsp/index$jsp (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)

Question:
I think there are some conflicts with the Java after an upgrade to the latest version of XC Connect for Mac OS Server Version 3.3.009. The server now goes to the HTTP status 500 screen.

Answer:
When a Tomcat Java Server Page (i.e., a JSP file) is first accessed via the web it is automatically converted into Java servlet source code, and is then compiled into Java bytecode (i.e., a class file).

Let us force Tomcat to convert/compile all of its pages.  The followings steps should be executed from a terminal window:

    a. sudo /Applications/Xchange_Network_server/stopxcnetwork.sh

    b. cd /Applications/Xchange_Network_Server/tomcat/work/Standalone/localhost/xcnetwork/

    c. sudo rm -rf *            !<<<< Be careful.  Delete ONLY the contents of the /Applications/Xchange_Network_Server/tomcat/work/Standalone/localhost/xcnetwork/ >>>

    d. sudo  /Applications/Xchange_Network_server/startxcnetwork.sh

    e. Through your server's browser you should now be able to access http://localhost/xcnetwork/admin
