Xchange Network support for Windows Vista™ and Outlook® 2007 |
March 2007
Xchange Network confirmed that XC Connect is fully Windows Vista™ and Outlook® 2007 compatible, enabling users that are either upgrading to Vista or Outlook 2007, or acquiring new computers, to fully utilize XC Connect to share calendar, contact, and/or task data.
XC Connect, a Calendar, Contact, and Task collaboration solution, allows any combination of Microsoft Outlook, Mac Address Book/iCal, Microsoft Entourage, and Novell Evolution users to create, modify, and share data.
While users will find that both Windows Vista and Outlook 2007 to look different than their predecessors, Windows XP and Outlook 2003, XC Connect installs and synchronizes data without issue.
"The ability to synchronize data and the synchronization experience has not changed” noted Stan Gregg, Chief Technology Officer for Xchange Network. “The changes to the user experience brought about by Windows Vista and Outlook 2007, have no effect on how XC Connect synchronizes data. The changes in Vista and Outlook 2007 are significant, yet XC Connect continues to synchronize data as it should without issue.”
The XC Connect Outlook connector functions as a connection between Outlook and the XCN Server, allowing the desired Calendar, Contact, and/or Task data to be synchronized. The connector is in effect a very “thin client”, while the bulk of the synchronization overhead is managed by the “connector framework” on the XCN Server.
